Below are guidelines to help parents/guardians determine if their children are ready to enter into sacramental preparation.  All sacraments are celebrated according to age of readiness and are not necessarily according to grade level. 

Please note children must be participating in Youth Faith Formation or attending Catholic School and attending Mass on a regular and consistent basis.

RECONCILIATION - The approximate age of readiness for this Sacrament is 7/8 years old.

Has an understanding of God's Love.

Has an age-appropriate understanding of right and wrong.

Has an understanding that everyone can do wrong (sin.)

FIRST COMMUNION - The approximate age of readiness for this Sacrament is 7/8 years old.

Has an understanding of God's Love

Is able to differentiate between table bread and the Eucharist.

Is able to participate in Mass in an age-appropriate way.

CONFIRMATION  - Is anyone who

Has celebrated First Communion and Reconciliation.

Participates fully in the faith community.

Has a willingness to continue to participate fully in the  community.

Has an age-appropriate knowledge of faith.

Has a personal desire to confirm his or her Baptism.
